Today was every laid back...
Most of the "excitement" for today did not occur until dinner time when one of my classmates, Emily, invited me to dinner with her grandparents who were visiting Spain. We ate at a very nice restaurant in the "old city" called La Fonda. The venue had an impressive line of people waiting to get inside...so it was obviously a popular place among the tourists and locals. I had another helping of paella as well...I think I may have finally gotten the "taste" for it out of my system (probably not haha). For the first course I had a fish soup with croutons which was also very good...for dessert I ventured out of my comfort zone and tried a Catalan Cream (best described as flan) with an apple cake; luckily my gamble paid off as the dish was delicious.
After coming in from dinner we talked in the lobby for a moment and then a few of my new Spanish friends came in and joined the conversation. It felt good trying to speak with them in Spanish and actually understanding the majority of what they were saying...of course my responses were not exactly what I wanted them to be, but the practice was great. I will also miss the art of conversation in Spanish when I get back....I hope the Spanish I gained while over here doesn't go away!
Tomorrow is my last Tuesday...hopefully it will bring more great memories.
You do realiize that Flan is stale cloudy jello, really glad that you enjoyed it. More memories tomorrow. Buenos noche.
